In the last week, the kick-off meeting of the COST action on Trapped Ions held in Granada (6-8 March) and our new publication on the results showing laser cooling of a 40Ca+ ion cloud in the strongest magnetic field have appeared in canal UGR, Canal SUR television and IDEAL newspaper. We want to thank all the journalists involved for their interest and for their work to bring to the society science and technology, a work that we consider very important and necessary. We have been working very hard in the last six years building the only laboratory of this nature in Spain, and now showing important results with a 7 tesla Penning trap. The combination of such magnetic field and laser cooling makes our Penning trap experiment unique. We have still much work in front to reach our final goal, but we have overcome an important milestone. We also want to thank all the support received from funding agencies, the University of Granada and many colleagues during these years.
