Our recent work has been published in EPJ-ST as part of the topical collection “Quantum Systems In and Out of Equilibrium - Fundamentals, Dynamics and Applications”. In this paper, we report the progress towards the implementation of electronic coupling between laser-cooled 40Ca+ ions stored in a double microtrap system.
