A new compact structure made of MACOR for loading calcium ions in a Penning trap has been designed in our group and machined at the University mechanical workshop (link to the website). This will allow creating ions in the trap center by means of two-step photoionization of the incoming neutral calcium atoms. The picture shows a top view of support structure mount with one of the calcium ovens. This is the first piece of MACOR machined in our University.
